Mapping a cone

Hi!
New to MadMapper but trying to figure out the best software to map onto a cone.

This is a rear projection using an Epson 1075U with an ultra short-throw lens. This will be a permanent installation, so I need to decide on the propper mapping software. Im using the MadMapper demo for now.

I imported the cone as a .obj. hoping this would work. Im having problems getting the video (fish swimming in circles) to map correctly and seamlessly onto the cone. Are there things Im doing wrong in the export of the .obj file itself? Or are there settings in MadMapper Im overlooking.

Or are there better ways of mapping a cone? For instance using Bezier Mesh Warp?

Is MadMapper not the right tool to use here?

Hi,
3D calibration is not working well with short throw projectors because short throw are made to have a clean output on a flat surface, but at differents depth (distance from the projetor), the image has a different x-y transform, it's not uniform, at least much less than a standard projector. We can't deal with such situation.
But if you VP is right in front of the cone, with a cone 3D Obj file, without calibration (just positionning / rotating / scaling it to match) it might be ok. of course you need the texture coordinates in the OBJ file. That might be easier than using quad mesh warping.

Just one last question. Would you say short-throw & ultra short-throw projectors are generally not suited for video mapping at all or are there other softwares out there that will handle this type of projectors?
