    Scaling Objects(?)

    by caneron » Fri Feb 18, 2022 6:50 am

Can't believe I'm asking this haha.

So you can easily scale an object approximately, but I can't find a way to scale an object exactly.

I.e., I bring in an image that's comes into the program as 1120x1080. I want to scale it down so that aspect stays correct, but I want it to be exactly 500 pixels wide. How do I do this? I know I can create a max height width in Bridge or whatever and make a scale based on that, but that's a lot of extra work

Just disable your quad perspective. Then select top left handle and enter its position in the numerical fields on top of preview, then select bottom right handle and set its position the same way.

This definitely speeds things up, but it's not quite right because the aspect of the quad isn't locked.

    After PERSPECTIVE is disabled:

I can select the bottom right quad, and hold shift, and it will lock the aspect. Great :D :D but, I can't manually key in the output position and keep the aspect locked.

Kind of like in After Effects or Photoshop with transform controls, you can lock the aspect and then key in the position. Does that make sense?

That makes sense. It would make sense only if perspective is disabled, but it's an interesting feature request.

Definitely would be awesome to be able to key-in a specific scale value (with perspective off) and then you could, of course, turn perspective on. For now: going to do it manually. Photoshop allows me to plug in data in the Image Size that I can use as a dummy tool to get the data I need for MadMapper. Wish me luck!
