    Video projection on sphere /globe

    by neils » Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:14 pm

    Hello,

I am trying to project onto a real sphere / ballon (approx. 1m diameter).
To do this, I have loaded a 3D sphere as an object in MadMapper. Instead of compensating for the perspective distortions that result from the curvature/bending, the distortion is increased.
The distortion fits on the monitor, but not on the real projection. Here the distortion should actually be negative.

    What is my mistake?
What do I have to adjust and how?

Thank you very much for your support.

    Greetings
    Nils

Have you got a picture? Would you not need to create a 3D "cup" (inside of a sphere) and pretend to project onto that?

    Thank you for the answer.
It didn't work with a "cup" either. I now use a "normal" flat projection on the balloon. I accept the distortions and they are not as strong as I thought.
