    artnet by wifi

    by DBR » Sat Apr 02, 2022 11:09 pm

    Hi all,
I've an old Netgear wireless adsl modem router DG834G. I'd like to use it instead of a 30m ethernet cable.
The Netgear is plugged to a Chauvet DMX-AN2 (2 univers), Madmapper see the router with ip address 192.168.0.2
    Image
The little led's on the Netgear port 01 and on the DMX-AN2 are blinking :

But at the rear of the DMX-AN2 the port A led should blinks to inform that datas are going out to the Garagecube's LED bars (SFX01 RGB 0.5cm), nothing occurs... :(

Is there something to setup up or this netgear router is to old ?
    Thanks in advance for support

you should sent the artnet data to your DMX converter adress, not the router's adress.

how can I do that ?
when I'm logged to the wifi router, the only ip address madmapper sees is the router one not the dmx-an2

MadMapper shows the Ip address of your computer network adapter. If you activate unicast you're supposed to see in the routing table your ArtNet->dmx node (Chauvet DMX-AN2).
Which universes is your Chauvet node configured to listen to ? Maybe you're sending from MM on universe 0 and the chauvet node is configured to receive universes 3 & 4 for instance. Check that in your node settings.

Okay. Can you know your node IP address ? Maybe it's not in DHCP but in static IP. Generally IP devices are cofigured in
    ip 2.xxx.xxx.xxx / network mask 255.0.0.0
    or
    ip 10.xxx.xxx.xxx / network mask 255.0.0.0
So this wouldn't work. You should first know your device IP / access its configuration. Check your device documentation.

I'm not talking about the router, but about the ArtNet node IP address

finaly I found how to do it !

the Netgear router has a static ip address : 2.0.0.3 (mask = 255.255.255.0)
the macbook pro is connected to the router by wifi and has a static ip address : 2.0.0.2 (mask = 255.255.255.0)
    Image

In madmapper on dmx output, the wireless interface must be selected : Wireless (en0) - 2.0.0.2

and now the artnet node ports A and B are blinking :D :D :D
    Image

I hope this might be helpfull for other
