    Earth's surface on a sphere

    by Julien94 » Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:20 pm

    Hello everyone,
I want to create an interactive digital globe.
For this I have two projectors and a 50cm styrofoam ball at my disposal.
At the end you should be able to rotate the globe with a Playstation controller.
So far so good, with one projector it's no problem at all. I created a 3D sphere and loaded it as an obj into MadMapper and placed the texture over it and adjusted the controller settings.
But how do I do this with two beamers so that as much of the earth's surface as possible can be displayed?

How do I have to align the two projectors so that there is a seamless transition of the earth's surface? Is this even possible with the distortion on a sphere?

    Thank you!
    best regards

could do with some warping and a lot of trial and error.

    I'm trying the same thing.
I'm wondering how to implement the "field of view" of the projector.
When I import the sphere mesh in madmapper I get a view of the sphere, part of it, but I don't understand how to get a bigger or smaller "slice" of it
