    Layering Materials for LED output?

    by jimcortez » Fri May 30, 2025 7:09 pm

I have an installation that has some interactive elements. At it's base, I have custom-written MMMaterials that drive the main animations. However, when a participant interacts, I would like to "layer" on another material with some alpha-transparency to introduce a new layer and give visual feedback, regardless of the active animation.

Is there a way to layer multiple materials on top of each other for LED/ArtNet output? I think this is possible for projection mode, but can't figure it out in light mode.

You can use a feedback loop from a projector and use that as a source for your DMX fixtures.
"enable Loopback " in a projector, and use it as a media for DMX.

Note that is MM v6 fixtures will sample outputs directly, without the need of a loopback.
