Hello!!

Today I'm releasing an alpha version of Blendy, my Edge Blend solution for MadMapper. I've been field testing it with the United VJs for a while, and now I'm comfortable to release a public version.

Hope you like it!

Looks good.

Do the 2 projectors have to be perfectly horizontally aligned ?

I have an install with 2 projectors "skewed" over each other, with a crude "hard-edge" blend done in MadMapper

Would blendy affect gamma and curves across my unused black areas?

Will have a play!

Thanks

Phil

Great now I have to buy another projector!

Also download is misspelled as "Donwload" on the blendy page.

Not really.

Since you have to map your source video in madmapper, just cover the area with light and map the source the best way you can.
Think about the the picture below, doesn't matter the position of the projectors, but the source mapping.

Thanks for getting back..... Currently I have 2 projectors that are very roughly layered over each other, both heavily skewed, so the area of crossover isn't a perfect quad...

Would "reshaping" the 2 coloured sections be a work around???

Great product either way.

Yes, shape the blend patterns over the area of doubled light.
Even if it is not a perfect quad, it will work.

Hi Roger

I am using BLENDY successfully with 2 projectors as MadMapper allows for very good manipulation of quads whilst keeping opposite corners fixed.

However, I am having problems when it comes to three projectors.

My issue is getting the middle projector ok.

I can align the middle with either the left or the right easily but can't seem to align all three and fill the screen surface completely.

I am using 3 projectors all off-skew to each other trying to fill one large regular screen.

Do you have any tips

Best regards

Phil

You have to estimate and match the 3 pieces to fit together, there's no other oway.
After they are all aligned you place the blend pattern over the doubled light areas.

Bah! Thought this might be the case.....

My work around is to use a grid test pattern and "physically" measure on the screen where the centre of my overall grid pattern should finally end up..... Then align the left and middle to this, before finally aligning middle and right.

Not the most scientific approach, I grant you, but as a workaround it seems to work ok(ish!)

Will keep the forum posted if anything changes.....

Also, Roger, are there any updates etc etc planned in the future??? Not sure what could be, but I'm sure there's ideas !

Thanks again

Phil

Yes, I'm polishing the final version, adding vertical blend, removing bugs, then will shoot some video tutorials.
And there's another completely different Blendy coming together, for fulldome vjing ;)

Hey, many thanks for Blendy. Trying it, but cannot understand the main thing in your tutorial.
"Map the source part source with MadMapper the way you usually do"
but I dont usually map 1 source via two projectors, and thats the reason why I read the tutorial)) so the main question: how?
If Ive got a huge huge cube, and i want it DIVIDED on three projectors - one part from left, second part center, and third part right. How?

Hi there

This cube mapping sounds more like a job for some HARD edge mapping using madmapper and a Matrox triple head card

You can then take your main madmapper input and split into equal thirds - (very easy now with coordinate number entering)

Then send each third to each output of your Matrox.

Have fun

Phil
