I too am wondering about this, maybe someone from garagecube can weigh in? The article on the mad mapper blog titled "Nature-graphique gets Triangle Fever" states that the company doing the projection for the show used:
- 2 Mac Pros
- 4 Matrox TripleHead2go
- 12 projectors
Obviously, at a minimum they were using graphics cards with two outputs in each Mac Pro, possibly two gpus per mac pro for the rendering horsepower. I'm hoping that someone can confirm that they were using the trick of running two instances of mad mapper. (Here's a mention of the "hack" required to do so, essentially duplicating and then renaming the mad mapper.app:
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=5694&p=23073&hilit=two+instances+madmapper#p23073) And if anyone can confirm that that is how they did it for this instance does anyone have any more specific information on the "hack?"
Thanks
Edit: I made two more instances of madmapper (literally ctrl+click copy) and was able to run all three. Ran out of time at work, but they were all running with 4 simple maps in each instance on my mac pro 3.2ghz with 8gb of ram. Madmapper itself seems to be a pretty resource easy program. Will update once I have a chance to test a bit more extensively. BTW, this was the madmapper demo, but the only difference I can find between the demo and the paid is the watermark on the output.
