    Artnet

    by scaryxpuppy » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:25 am

    Hi guys

Loving the new version - just perfect for what I do !

Looking at the ARTNET functionality though, does anyone have details about what ARTNET boxes work?

Looking at the ENTTEC one on the Madmapper site, it seems to only have one DMX OUT.... There are boxes out there that seem to have a lot more, but I am just wondering what if any, people have used with success.

    Any comments would be great

Thanks again for a great update .... Coordinate input and corner tabbing are just great

    Phil

The ENTTEC has "only" one output.
    It's good for the value.

If you need more than 1 output, it generally means that your show is big, and in that case you would use a node, that has multiple outs and one ethernet in. Nodes are usually rented.

randomly googled nodes and found this other usb to dmx converter. says you can run up to 8 of them. does this do the same thing as the enttec? http://www.ecue.com/products/interfaces/excite.html

the Enttec ODE is Artnet based, which means that you don't need ANY driver.
Madmapper will run nicely with ANY Artnet node, since they don't require drivers.

MadMapper will not run with an exotic DMX USB box, as these boxes require drivers,
and we can't implement just every box available on the market.

Upcoming versions of MadMapper *should* include support for the Enttec USB DMX Pro (FTDI serial drivers) at some point (no release date yet), since we sell it to Modul8 users.
Upcoming versions of MadMapper *might* include support for other DMX cards vendors, but I can't provide info on which model we might support, and when.
