Hey Guys I am just 6months old in this field and I am now planning to finally approach the market with providing them with solutions for specific need.
Now I realize that cost is based upon the kind of project, but can someone help me with what all goes in to account for the final cost example the cost of hardware may that be rental or owned etc
so for professionals who are charging for events could you please guide me.

Now when I say free, I don't completely mean that, let me explain. My background is film post-production. I even have one of those pieces of paper that my teachers said I should get to prove it. But no one is a creative field really cares. I don't know how many free gigs I did, before I got a paid one, but it was more toes and fingers then I have. The difference between accounting and this one (and their are a lot, but we are just going to focus on one) is creativity. By having more knowledge then me of the software is one thing, but If can show you twenty free events I worked on where the other guy can only show five paid events, experience is always going to win out. If this is something you want to do, you should never not be doing it, free, paid or by yourself.

Let me tell you, we have very different price schemes for who we deal with.
At the end of the day most people think what we do is just play with some software and a projector and if they had enough time in the day they could do that too, no price is ever going to be the same from one client to another. Good luck.

I recommend doing a calculation of your hourly rate then multiply that by how many hours you think it will take you to do the entire thing. This should include pre-production animation should you be creating original content should you be doing that.

Hmm Thanks ilan, Any Idea what that number is for some one who is lets say doing this professionally. some like AntiVj or NYX or even yourself if you do this.

Depending on how much experience you have to justify the cost, the hourly rate is probably somewhere around 35 to 50 euros (convert to your local currency as needed). When you finish calculating the time and the numbers do not match what the possible budget of the client will be, you can make some adjustments.

It's important to give a realistic estimate of your time.

I have a manager/agent. And his job, beside admin, accounting and networking, is actually to know about the background of the people ask me to do something.

Someone ask me to do something for free but actually drain a lot of money because its a commercial event... but come to me saying oh sorry no budget for you, please help me for this X event. then its a big NO.

Also sometime i do it for free or cheap to help, but i told them not saying to other i did it for cheap/free. Because after when commercial company will come they will say " i heard your price is only that, etc.."

After for how rise the fee, its often about content production. See how much hours you need to do on PS, AI, AE, 3D... shooting videos.. and then rise your fee according to.
