    Projection simulation

    by Xaver2k » Mon Mar 24, 2014 2:33 pm

Hey guys i´m looking for a software to simulate some Projection mapping,
i thought madmapper could recognize it as a virtual Projector and in the software i can build up the stage and some fixtures to map them.
    Anyone has some good suggestions?

    Thanks

    mad mapper can simulate.
Just load a photo - or a 3d rendering, or a space scan - in your projector background and you're good to go.

hmm good idea, will try it Thanks! 8)

but i mean more a real simulation like building a 3d room in cad and putting some projectors in it also for better planing where to put the projectors?

    use 3dsmax then

placing projectors is simple, it's a mean between:
    - where you CAN place them
    - where you cover your wanted surface as much as possible
    - where you have the less deformation in your projected image

you can use Touchdesigner, D3, AI or pandora...

Touchdesigner is free for non commercial use and is much deeper than just a previz... it is PC only and learning curve is steep... for that reason it is not optimum for many situations... but it can handle the more difficult ones with ease.

I know you can simulate a video projector with Capture Polar (http://www.capturesweden.com) but didn't look at it deeply and I don't know if it does what you expect
