    Mapping a 3D scene

    by ankhelos » Mon Nov 03, 2014 4:24 pm

    Hi,

Maybe this is too obvious or has already been answered but a quick search through the forum did not find anything.

Is it possible to use MadMapper to map a complete 3D scene and if so, is there any documentation of this process online?
I understand there is a spatial scanner using structured light, but I am not sure how this is usable. Is there a proper projector calibration procedure (eg opencv etc).

    Thank you in advance.

The scanner just gives you a flat image from the perspective of the projector lens, so you can use it to create masks or as a template to animate on/with. It doesn't give you a 3D scan/render of the room....However of thats what you are looking for I'd had a little luck with a Kinect 1414 and Skanect (http://skanect.occipital.com) to create larger 3D scans (like 15'x15')
