For an upcoming festival we're planning on using 86 Versa/Happy Tubes, they're 16px which means that each tube takes up 48 channels of DMX. Based on that it means we need 4128 Channels total, which split over a 512 universe setup will need just over 8 universes. I'm looking at getting a DMX-King eDMX8 (https://shop.dmxking.com/eDMX8_p_36.html) which supports 8 channels of art.net via a rack mount controller.

My question is -
What the largest Art.Net channels people have used out of MadMapper?
Can you reliably use 2 art.net boxes out of Madmapper or would it be wiser to drop a few tubes and just deal with the 8 the eDMX support?

Any pointers would be great.

We used 22 universes for MAD_Orb project.
The Enttec Strom has 24 universes output.

I have a project on the go atm using a mere 5 full universes.

I bought a 6 channel unit & a bunch of decoders made by this guy:

It would be good for you to write to him and get his advice. My art net unit cost me £85 off eBay from him for 6 universes, and he offers to build to spec! Very knowledgable individual. You won't need to spend hundreds to achieve what you want. Works fine with MadMapper. You could run 2 from a wireless router giving you 12 wireless dmx universes for about £200!

Hey my biggest project with madmapper has been with 8 universes, i used 2 controller from the same guy as ghostofelvis100 (but the artnet-ws2811 edition)
they are easy to configure via webbrowser, and the price is unbeatable! ^^

Thanks everyone. It seems the tubes also come with a Enttec Datagate Mk1 which will do 8 Universes so no need to source a separate box.
To keep it all simple I'm going to drop a few tubes to keep in under 8 universes.
