MadMapper 5.5.6 not launching on macOS 15.2 M3 Ultra

    by r2.lighting » Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:50 am

    Hi Everyone,

I just purchased MadMapper after having used the Demo for a while on my MacBook Pro on macOS 15.2 Apple Silicon. Uninstalled the Demo. Installed the most current 5.x version. When launching it, macOS prompts for permission to find devices on the network. I click "allow" and then it freezes. I don't see any UI element. macOS task manager says "MadMapper (not responding)". The only option I have is to force quit.

Beta 5 of Version 6.0.0 runs fine. Older 5.x versions (e.g. 5.4.4) all freeze.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot or seen this before?

Support got back to me. Turns out, there is a newer version (5.6.6) which I sort of missed due to the styling of the download table, where the most current version somehow blends into the table header. 5.6.6 runs perfectly fine.

Is there a way to get MadMapper to show the latest version on the download page?Monkey Mart I almost missed 5.6.6 because of the confusing interface panel.

Speed Stars Online The issue seems specific to MadMapper 5.x versions on macOS 15.2/15.3, particularly with Apple Silicon. The Canon SDK fix in 5.6.6 suggests a driver-related issue, which may apply to your case. If 5.6.6 doesn’t resolve the issue, the problem may be tied to macOS 15.2 bugs or a deeper incompatibility with M3 Ultra architecture, requiring a patch from GarageCube or Apple.
