Sequencing videos in MM on windows 10

    by yashar » Fri Mar 30, 2018 3:46 pm

    Hi,
I just downloaded the trial and really like MM but im having a problem which might move me to something like HeavyM or Resolume.. Since im using a windows machine i cant use modul8 (any windows version coming?) or vezer which i understand make it easy to work in a timeline like mode. I want to be able to play sequences of movies/effects one after the other. I understand presets might be a way to go but I really need an example of how a preset can start a playlist of media/effects with a time constraint on each one. I am basically asking if you can automate this.- I dont intend to sit at my comp while it plays- maybe just press a button to get it started......If this cant be done with presets can someone direct me to a windows app that can work with madmapper to attain this?

    Hi,

You can assign a keyboard / MIDI / OSC / DMX ... control to trigger next preset. To do so, two option: enter the Edit keyboard Controls mode (Ctrl+SHIFT+K ou menu Controls / Edit Keyboard Controls) then at the top of the presets tab, you have three buttons appearing: previous, select & next. Click on the next button, then press a keyboard key, then this key will be assign to this control.
Second option: open Controls List dialog (menu Controls / Controls List), choose keyboard tab, press the "+" button then browse in the popup menu to presets/next. You can choose your keyboard key on the right by press the learn button and press a key.

If you want to automate, you have to use a timeline software at the moment. Ableton Live Intro (80€) is an option on Windows / macOS. There's a free soft called Timeliner made by vvvv that allows you creating a timeline with OSC (easy to use in MadMapper): https://vvvv.org/documentation/timelinersa

    Cheers !

    Thanks Matt,
I didnt find a tutorial how to use timelinerSA vis a vis madmapper so im trying ableton...

I looked at the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bphQNu4pLk8
I have a problem syncing the apps:
    1. Im not getting in ableton an option in the preferences to set madmapper like here https://youtu.be/bphQNu4pLk8?t=26s
    see: http://www.joramrozov.com/temp/ableton1.png
    2. Im not getting an option for a "madmapper in" in the midi preferences. see: http://www.joramrozov.com/temp/mm1.png

    Hi,
Windows doesn't support "virtual MIDI devices", so you have to install a kind of local loopback MIDI thing (creating a virtual output & input devices that are internally connected).
    You can use loopMIDI: https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html
    Cheers!
    Matt
