    Fading a masked layer

by Robbie the Robot » Wed Apr 17, 2019 6:15 am

I'm wondering if you can help me with an issue I'm having involving layers with masks. I have a layer with a mask that allows the layer underneath it to show through. I grouped these 2 layers into a folder and would like to control the opacity so that the image can fade in and out as a single layer. However, whenever I apply a fade, either manually through the group's opacity parameter or fading between scenes, the top layer and bottom layer fade as separate layers, meaning the entire bottom layer shows through the top layer as it fades. Is there a way to prevent this?

You can duplicate the front quad (with the mask) and "invert mask" on the duplicated quad. Put this duplicate below the front quad. That will solve.

    Hi Matt,
I tried your solution of duplicating the masked quad and placing it below the original but the layers below still bleed through during fades. Do you have any insights?
