Possible bug in fading from scene to another

I encountered a strange issue while working on a MadMapper project last night.

I have a scene that plays a full screen movie. Let's call it scene 1. It's about 40 seconds long and set to play once from the beginning, no loop. When I fade into another scene (let's call it scene 2, another full screen movie), scene 1 suddenly jumps to the beginning of the movie before fading into scene 2. The movie clip in scene 1 is much longer than I need it to be , so it's not a matter of the movie ending before the fade starts. What is really bizarre is this issue only happens when fading into scene 2. Fading into any other scene is normal, which makes me think that the issue has something to do with the movie file in scene 2.

It was late and I did not have a change to investigate it further. I will take another look at it later today.

Wechanged that in 3.7.3.Which version did you use to created your scenes ?
Anyway, you can disable the movies "Restart" setting in your scenes from the Cue Inspector. Just select all your scenes, open the Inspector (inspector button is on the right side of cue bank toolbar), type "Restart" in the search field, select all items in the list and uncheck the "Value" checkbox on the right. See attached screenshot

Thank you for the quick reply.
I'm using 3.7.3. I checked my project again, and yes all the scenes are set to Restart in the inspector. Since most of my movie clips are loop-able I didn't notice that they too restart as they fade into other scenes. I was able to fix the restart behavior as you showed me, but it took me a few tries because the scene that's giving me the problem is Play Once, not looped. I need it to restart when I select it but not suddenly restart when it fades into another scene. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that a loop restarting as it's being faded out is not such a useful feature. I can understand that you would probably want a clip that is being faded in to restart, but why would you want the clip that is fading out to suddenly go back to the beginning just before it fades into another clip?

Did you create the scenes with 3.7.3 ? In 3.7.3 only the medias attached to surface will have the "restart" properties set. However it will set the restart even if the surface is not visible or opacity = 0. The thing is we cannot guess what you're expecting. We could add the "restart" only if there's at least one VISIBLE surface with this media attached...

I created the scenes with version 3.7.3.

Maybe these video examples with help explain my frustration.
I have two video clips:
1. a water splash into the sea
2. a sea floor animation.

With the default behavior (movie clips set to restart) the water splash scene plays from the beginning but as it fades into the next clip it suddenly jumps to the beginning.

When I uncheck the Restart behavior, the water splash scene fades out normally, but now it does not start from the beginning.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. If you'd like, I can send you the MadMapper projects I used for the above examples.

You have to set the restart ON for the scenes where you use the media, and OFF for the scenes where you don't. Does it anser your problem ?

Verify the properties of the movie clip in scene 2. Ensure that the clip's play mode is set to start from the beginning and play once, just like in scene 1. Also, check if there are any specific looping or playback settings that could be affecting the behavior.
