miniMad Route Artnet to USB Led Device

Hello,

I have a setup that uses the Route Artnet to USB Led Device option in order to send communications to a teensy board then to usb strips. It works great on a computer but I am trying to record my sequences and export to a minimad. It seems that the option to send artnet through USB does not exist.

Is there any way to send artnet through usb to leds on a miniMad?

Thanks for the help,
Aidan

No miniMAD Light doesn't support sending DMX data to USB-serial port at the moment.
You can use a 100$ mini PC for it: compute stick or vivo stick. I can play 1080p30 h264 smoothly with a 3 years old Vivostick, and the GPU isn't bad.

Thanks Matt, does this method also circumvent needing multiple madmapper licenses? I found an example of this usage but it says to load madmapper into the startup folder which makes me imagine that each vivostick needs to have a separate license.

That's correct. But you can remove deactivate a machine and activate another one freely when needed.

Hi Matt, unfortunately that won't work for me, I built a series of art pieces that I am trying to sell to clients with a loop of scenes running on them.

Then you can opt for an external ArtNet/sACN => LED contoller like https://www.advateklights.com/shop/pixl ... oller.html
miniMAD light => teensy is not a big task but it has not been requested and it's not in our roadmap at the moment. And using an external electronic device is more reliable than the usb connection. Creating an electric shortcut with such device would just burn a fuse, while I don't know how much the usb connection of the raspberry pi is isolated from the raspi board... Tons of advantages ;-)
