Cannot find user-installed fonts on Windows

Hello there,

Using MM 4.0.5 on W10, I'd like to use manually installed fonts for the text generator. Unfortunately, those won't show up in the Font dropdown. I made sure they're ttf fonts and tried three different ones, but none of them show up.

These fonts all show up in other softwares such as LibreOffice Writer.

Repro steps :

- Download this font from FontSquirrel
- Install it
- Start MM and try to assign it to a text generator
- The font is not present in the dropdown

Happy to provide more details if necessary!

Thanks in advance.

Ok, there might be an issue looking for user fonts on Windows in the Text Generator module.
It's actually looking in C:\Windows\Fonts\. Do you know where your font was installed ?

Mornin'

Indeed, Windows control panel says the font was installed in C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Fonts.

Screenshot here

If I browse to this folder, I see all fonts I have manually installed

Weird thing is if I browse to C:\Windows\Fonts, the font also shows up there :

Is your font in ttf format ? (file with .ttf extension)

Hello there,

It is indeed :

Now, looking a bit more at the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, Windows shows it as an OpenType font :

I suppose that's why it doesn't appear. We rely on a library that only supports True Type fonts. I know some don't work.
In the mean time we've been working on another text renderer that is more robust and cross-platform. So I suppose next MadMapper feature release will find all your fonts.
