Winch 16 bit control with pixel L 16 / internal loopback / framerate issue

Dear reader,
I am using madmapper to control the movement of winches. I set up a lot of black and white gradients to create the motion using black and white and 16 bit pixels.
If I use the lights directly on the gradient the 16bit motion works flawlessly, however, I want to use the internal loopback function to be flexible and create beautiful transitions.
As soon as the lights are on the loopbacked video the 16 bit framerate drops tremendously and my motion is not smooth anymore.
Do you have any ideas on this? It would be amazing to use it in loopback function as I can make very complex positioning in a very easy way. But I do need smooth motion at low speeds.

Please note that in the loopbacked video the framerate drop is not visible at all, it is equally smooth as the original gradient - you only see the drop in the DMX monitor and in the motion of the winches. Looking forward to hear from you!

If you update to MadMapper 5.1.6 you can change the pixel format of the loopback texture (choose PF_F32_RGBA in your case, 32 bits floating point for each channel)

Hey Matt,
thanks for this!
Where can I change this setting?
Can't seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks again

Below the "Publish Internal Loopback" button:
You need to use MadMapper 5.2.0 beta version (available today) to see this setting (sorry I missed that when I first replied)

Thanks so much.
One more question:
how do i get the pixel L to response truly to the black and white information? as in, 50% white = 50% dmx value?
thanks for the swift reply's!

You have to set the DMX fixture "response" parameter to 0%. By default we set it to 33% which makes a curve that works fine in with most hardware. Some are more linear, or quite good, in which case you can set it to 0%.

Hey Matt,
I can't find this functionality anymore in the updates and internal loopback is lacking framerate again. Do you have any ideas how to solve this?
Best,
Boris

Loopback pixel format is enabled by activating "expert mode" in MadMapper preferences / General;
internal loopback is lacking framerate again
I have no idea what you mean by framerate. You can force MadMapper engine to run at a specific framerate in preferences / Engine / Engine FPS, but you can't specify a different framerate for each loopback.

Hey there,
thanks so much for always getting back to me.
I think the control dissappeared again in the new update, even when i turn on advanced controls. is this true?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
