- on site
- retweak images to match the actual stage
- get it locked in go to EXPORT OUTPUT so that
can now share this with the other VJs involved in the festival
and discover that the the EXPORT OUTPUT function does not work

the FILE->EXPORT OUTPUT function.
I was onsite. Adjusted our "temp photo template" image to match the actual stage.
Save.
Arrive back at the studio and planned to export the new matched template so that
i can start building material etc for it only to find out the Export function does not work.
I tried all formats PNG, SVG, PDF
and the only thing that showed up in the export file was:
the Layer name and the framing of the layer/grid warp points.

The "SVG export function" exports the vectors, outlines, handles and names in vector format.
If you want the bitmap as well, you can simply hit the "make snapshot " os shortcut. By default it is COMMAND SHIFT 3.

The EXPORT OUTPUT function works.
If you select PNG (or SVG or PDF),
it will export the wireframe outlines and naming of your surfaces.
If you want the bitmap as well, just make a snapshot.

I don't understand the point of that. That does not seem usedful.
Screen Capturing a Bit Map is not going to give %100 pixel accuracy that is going to
match exactly what is going to your projector

The export function is needded if you want to work with Illustrator/after effects.
The Mad_Line also has an export to SVG.
Combining both allows for some crazy post prod effects.
The OS screen cap is accurate for bitmaps.

Hi Franz, you just opened my eyes to whole new possibility I hadn“t realized, can you elaborate a little more on the export function for post-production please?
Thanks!

well,
you do your basic setup, put your quads, triangles, masks...
eventually add some lines with the MAD_Line.
Then you export everything.
You'll have the outlines and naming of all your surfaces.
Then you can use AE, or Illusttrator, to work flat as you used to.
Just this time you know precisely where all the elements are located
on the screen space.
This way you can use MadMapper as an helper to provide
a background for your post production works in AE.
