mad mapper can only be used with one output wich can be a dualhead or triplehead. This means only 3 projectors for now

thank you for the reply I got on skype FRZ after posting. He explained that, and I also said I could use two matrox same time with two of madmapper opened on the same computer (onematrox for each madmapper). And some new feature perhaps in begin of september ...

    Thx for your support ;)

Multi GPU output has no ETA yet. It is rumored to be planned tho', but nobody from the team can announce an official date.
Perhaps sometime, at some point, in the future. (but the world might collapse as well in 2012, so who knows...)

There IS a rumor about a dirty trick:
some people managed to duplicate MadMapper app and rename the copy. They launched both the original and the copy, and were able to output on 2 separate displays. (Not ready for production, use at your own risks, blablabla). Keep in mind that when using multiple GPUs (again, not recommended or even officially supported), there's a bus transfer involved, and that might harm performance. (esp. with a 4096 by 4096 syphon shared frame, @60FPS...)

I tried the "dirty trick" still in a rehearsal moment and it worked well.
And frankly, it's my only solution, so I'll bet on it. During the process I'll report any problems here.

For anyone who wants to know: my setup is a mac pro dual Xeon "Westmere" with a Radeon 5770. 2 matroxes triplehead2go digital plugged each one in a minidisplay port with adaptors to VGA. The third output of the GPU - a DVI - goes to monitoring.

    vídeo file: ABCD

    matrox 1: A B C
    matrox 2: B C D

Explaining: The single input is a strip video with a 4 screen resolution. I'll send 3 screens to 1 matrox (compounding 1 lateral screen and a wide screen with 2 screens size at middle. To the other matrox I'll send the same wide screen in the middle to double the ansi lumens (at this point madmapper it's absolutely useful since to align 4 ultrashort throws without help it's crazy) and another lateral screen.

How I told before, only with the 2 instances of mapper I could have one output in each matrox and adjust everything with total liberty for each output.

The tests were very good, the performing was ok too, even with audio in the files. But certainly cause it's ONE input and it's a big machine.

Any considerations, except for wishing me lucky ? :D

    Thanks

    Posting a later debriefing:
The dirty trick of 2 instances worked very well. One year tour of 4 performances per week (sometimes 6!), all the videos with audio.
We are gone start again with the same hardware setup but with a different configuration of the screens.
Only one problem detected: Sometimes there are some "lag" between one MM output and the other.
It's not a regular lag and I couldnt detect exactly what is its cause.

This was tried with 2 version ago of MM. I'm upgrading now and I'm very curious if the "lag" problem is gone.

    Thanks
    .
