    Mad_KinectMasker/Doubler with different inputs

    by Maximus » Wed Aug 24, 2011 6:01 pm

    Hello,

    First post on this forum!

I'm pretty new to projection mapping so I'm trying to learn everything at the same time from modul8, syphon madmapper etc.

Here is my problem. I tried the Kinect Masker tutorial and everything works fine but I would like to use a video input or any other source in the background, but not the Mad_Lab apps (graphic pattern in the tutorial).
Mad Doubler is only recognizing the MadLab apps, which is normal I guess. But if I select a video on my desktop on the first layer of madmapper (for example), How do I add the Kinect Masker on top?

To be simple, I'd like to use Mad_KinectMasker with non-Mad_Lab sources.

    Cheers!

    Max

You can use modul8 as a background provider.
    modul8 has a video input.

Set mad doubler to have the kinectmasker as the left input, and modul8 as the right input.

FYI Mad_Doubler works with any Syphon enabled app, not just the MAD_Lab apps ;)

    Thank for the reply.
I didn't try to connect Modul8 and MadMapper yet, glat it works.

    > Then, when using ONLY MadMapper, it's not possible to display any other sources than one from the MadLab (patters, generator, line) to apply under the Kinect app mask ?
Sounds a bit complicated to have to do this via Modul8 where a single file imported in the media list could do the job...

when using ONLY madmapper, there's just one input.

MM was designed to be at the end of the video chain.
Once your video mapping setup is done, you hide MM interface and focus on
working with your creative video delivery software.
