issues selecting multiple shapes and moving them

    by jerms » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:49 am

I've found that once I have my project set up and I select multiple shapes and move them to create different configs of inputs, some of the shapes distort and fly off the screen, or it deselects everything and only selects the shape I grab. I have tried different methods, ie. drag select and grab last shape selected, select only 1 type of shape etc, it seems to happen randomly. The only way it seems to work 100% of the time is to manually command select 1 at a time. This is super annoying, and inhibits my workflow. Does anyone else experience this?

    We are running:

    Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
    modul8 2.6.4
    madmapper 1.2
    triplehead2go to 3 projectors
blackmagic intensity pro for input into modul8 from video mixer

    thanks

    jon

does it happen with any surfaces ? (like quads) or only on specific surfaces ?
Does it happen only when the snapping is enabled, or all the time ?
Can you post a step by step to reproduce your problem ? (or a MM file that illustrate the problem)

seems to be any surfaces, when I drag select many at a time, then try and move them together, although more with quads and triangles thans circles
when snapping is on or off, I believe snapping was off when I took this screen shot, but I would have to test
unfortunately I will have to post the madmapper file when I go back to Vancouver as the mapping computer is there, I will be back there next week

2 try to move them they warp and distort and fly off screen, or all are deselected and only shape that you grab is selected. reselecting multiple times it may work. using command select it works, but this is slow and tedious.

I am highly curious too as no one has made any suggestions on what the issue is, or could be, I doubt it is your graphics card, this is a bug in the software

The team is under a rock....they have not replied to any of my issues reported either. They lost me as a user and promoter for Modul8, please keep me as a user of madmapper! VPT has an awful interface.

I had a scenarised live yesterday night, it was easy with madmapper, but it would have been 10 times faster if I could resize several surfaces together. Like in photoshop and illustrator when you want to resize several selections with "transformation".

@cvanhoose : madmapper is awsome, but still young and need to evolve, modul8 NEED to evolve, interface is old now. Thx for VPT, I didn't knew and will look it closer !

@franzkarl I would suggest you put that in feature requests as it really has nothing to do with this thread.

@FranzKarl. Can you send your report to support? We can bettet assist you there. When you do, please clarify for us what you mean by 'edges' as the only methods are selecting points.

    Thanks in advance.

Juste a remember if you expect an answer from the team is recommanded to send a message directly to the team in the support and not in the forum who is more dedicated to providing user to user based support.
We are usually answer messages within 48 hours during the week (we are humains and take weekend as well).

There is a note about that :
