Franz, when you say any art net compatible ethernet boxes, do mean even the ones that i would need an extra PoE network switch or PoE power injector?
also, if i'm looking to do most my dmx work in mad light would you recommend a 3pin or 5 pin connector on said box or does it matter that much?

Also, also, do you personally ever have a use for DMX512 In? Most things I've seen on the market are dmx512 output but have you ever used dmx512 input for anything because I see some boxes with that option?

Thanks for your help just trying to wrap my head around all this dmx business.

I would recommend an Enttec ODE (art net) WITHOUT POE, but its own PSU, and an additional 5pin->3pin converter.
This way you can handle all situations.

DMX in is useful if you want to control MadMapper from a regular light desk (such as a GranMA).

Thanks for that info Sir. I recently found this guy: http://shop.dmxking.com/eDMX4-RDM_p_14.html
It's not PoE and it also doesn't have PSU. No doubt it will work with madmapper as it's artnet and I saw it works with the kineme artnet tools but what's the main issue with powering it through ethernet with an injector? Would that cause problems with madmapper?

it will work with mad mapper. I guess power is just a matter of personal taste
