Madlight and LPD8806 LEDs

Does Madmapper natively support individually addressing LPD8806 LEDs?
I can't find a way to do this.
I've seen it done with an Arduino but I've also seen on the forums people saying that you don't need one.

Should I be using WS2811 LEDs instead?

Thanks in advance! :)

you will need a controller...
you can send the data from madmapper via dmx or artnet to a controller, like arduino, and the controller will control the leds.

I currently use an Enttec ODE with regular 5050 LEDs through a controller board however I can't seem to figure out how to work them.
The board takes in LEDs, R,G,B,+
and the LPD8806's go Ground, Digital, Control, +5v.

Any guidance?

Thanks

just google for it first! it would be easier for all of us.
i only put "lpd8806 arduino" and the first result was https://github.com/adafruit/LPD8806
so put in some microcontroller or any other type of controller

Don't be so touchy...

The reason for a forum is for people to come together and support each other.

I am fully capable of controlling LEDs through an Arduino.
All I was asking for was if it was possible through a DMX controlled LED dimmer.

You obviously can't help. Maybe someone else can.

oh sorry for being so touchy,
maybe i understand your question wrong,
no you can not control digital led strips with a DMX controlled LED dimmer.

With DMX controlled LED dimmer you can control only the regular mulitcolor (RGB) or one color strips... you just have to take a look for the voltage of the strip.
to control these with madmapper you need a DMX-USB or DMX-Artnet interface.

To control digital led strips like the WS2812 or the LPD8806 you will an micro-/ controler.
to control these with madmapper you need to implement the DMX-USB or the DMX-Artnet function or you buy one
