    Performance Lag? V1.7.3, OS 10.10.3

    by nicholasrivero » Thu Jun 04, 2015 7:10 pm

Hey everyone. I seem to be having some decreased performance issues. Trying to trouble shoot. I've heard reports that OS 10.10.3 causes some issues. Wondering if I should downgrade to OS 10.9.X?

    Currently running:
    Mac Pro (2013/Trash Can): 3.5 6 Core, 32 RAM, 512 HDD, D500
    OS: 10.10.3
    MM: 1.7.3.4628
    Outputs: 4x 1920x1080: 3 HDMI, One DVI.
Playback: Have tried various different apps, Resolume, VDMX, ProPresenter V6.

The machine is new, so it just has these apps installed, along with, most recent version of BlackMagic drivers, otherwise, no additional drives/apps.

    Thanks!

    Have you disabled AppNap? http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/e ... le_app_nap

not sure if that would be the lag/performance issue though since you weren't specific about what was under performing/lagging..

low fps? loops not seamless? playback slower than expected?

Per your note, I did disable app nap. It seems to have helped, but not fixed the issue.

The issue is low FPS. It doesn't seem to be running at a full 60 FPS. However, at some moments, FPS performance seems to come and go. Files are ProRes LT. No tearing on screens, just lower FPS.

we upgraded the playback system in 2.0 so it should be way faster now.

Thanks Franz. I was trying out the beta, but decided not to use it on this event just yet. I definitely noticed the performance upgrade.

Yeah I have had this same issue. I noticed it the other day. On every distribution since 1.44, MadMapper does not have that smooth of playback. The FPS is low. As said above, I have not experienced tearing, just low FPS. This happens with all video files and Syphon feeds.

Good thing I keep all of the old distributions or the show would have been very bad.

    Why is this?

I am sure 2.0 is really nice but it would be great if there was a way to stabilize the "production ready" version.
