MadMapper Input to switch presets

Hello,
I'm helping a friend of mine with MadMapper and the idea is to have different presets for video mapping and we want to be able to switch those presets depending on some input signal. Let it be some script running and sending some code to MadMapper depending on scripts state, this way we want to automatically make MadMapper to switch presets.
I discovered there is some possibility to use MIDI input. But is it the only solution? Can I just write some python script sending MIDI signals to which MadMapper would listen?
It would be great to get some ideas. Thanks in advance.
