hello and thanks for trying to help me out. so i was following along with the tutorial and where it asks to "Create lines from visible edges" i do and if you look at the screen shot you can see my problem. the new layer is the wrong size. i have tried to resize but, fail. i should also mention that i am trying to do this while i am plugged into a 1085t BenQ projector. if i follow the tutorial without my MBP plugged into the projector everything works fine. any help would be appreciated. thank you

try to add some rotation to your model before generating lines: sometimes MM freaks out if the perspective is frontal.
Does that solve your problem ?
