    3D Model OBJ Issues

    by nicholasrivero » Fri Mar 18, 2016 6:44 am

I've been running into this trouble lately with 3D models in V2. When I try to calibrate the model, and I set my 6 points, one of two things happens:
    - Either the model vanishes when I begin to move points, or
    - the model does not move any where when I try to calibrate.

    I've included pictures below. Thanks!

I think your letters are not attached to each other, so the distance between the letters in real life doesn't match the distance in the 3d object, that's why the model "vanishes" : MM cannot find a correct point of view.
Try calibrating your letters one by one ( that's 3 models instead of 1)

Thank you for the info. I will try separate files. However in doing so, I lose the ability to project a single light source on all 3 objects simulatneously, which is something I was wanting to do. Is there a way to correct the file to work accordingly? Thanks!

Ya, I've been having similar issues. The calibration of 3D models seems really finicky. It would be really helpful if there was a way to roughly position a "camera" or something to at least roughly align your model before calibrating. Its very limiting to have to try align 3d points to a perspective when the model loads in with as totally flattened perspective.

Shouldn't there be some better documentation on this?
