Here's a cool trick I used at an event the other day. I was projecting visuals onto a stage with a dancer performing. I placed a circle shape with a solid warm white color onto each scene and gave it the soft borders FX with the width set to maximum. The result was a realistic spotlight which I could move in realtime with my mouse. There is the limitation, however, that the subject must be in the projection area. I was projecting on both the back wall and floor so the effect was quite good. It also has the added benefit of a masking the subject to prevent the background visuals from being projected on him/her.
