Material Aspect Ratio

It would be useful to be able to set the aspect ratio of material for the input window.
I have a custom material that will output with ratio of 2:1 but placing lights on it in the input window i can only view it at 1:1.
Which is not ideal.
The force media ratio does the job - but i currently working on a project that has other inputs i dont want to force.
