Loop around when stepping through frames of clip

Hello!
I sometimes use the step frame functions to step through frames of a clip. This way I can step through still frames to the rhythm of the music so it's live.
What I found was that when I enable the loop function of playing back clips that the step function does not honour this capability by jumping to the first or last frame when reaching the end of the clip. I end up having to go back and forth making sure to stay within the bounds of the clip so I don't get stuck at the ends.
I realise I might be the only one using MM in this way but seems like it would be a small modification and I would be grateful for it.
