    The fixture editor and DMX control is a great feature, but there is one limitation. You can only create fixtures in a rectangular shape. The LED units we make are hexagonal shaped, so there is no way for us to create a fixture using the current fixture editor, unless we create them using lots of single pixel fixtures, but that would be very time consuming for large installations!

    - We'd like the ability to manually lay out the pixels within a grid.
    - not all the spaces in a grid should be assigned DMX channels, ie blank space.

    In our case the hexagon unit has 19 RGB pixels. To fit that shape into a 9x5 grid we space them out within the grid.
    See below where + is space, and 0 is an LED:

    ++0+0+0++
    +0+0+0+0+
    0+0+0+0+0
    +0+0+0+0+
    ++0+0+0++

    Defining this in the fixture editor would be nice, but I'd be happy defining it in an XML like structure or whatever as long as it can be imported to madmapper.

    I wanted to second this:
    Just like how we can have a projection surface that is a circle, instead of having just straight lines for fixtures, to have; Arc's, Curves, and Circles for fixtures to follow.

    same problem! we have quite a lot of work making circles from straight lines fixtures. goes hand in hand with a large amount of methematics :O

    you can import CSV fixture definitions if I recall correctly,
    I'm just having a hard time finding the tutorial and pdf we did on the subject.
