Server+Client Version of MM / Timelines

    by TheYouth » Sat Jul 15, 2017 3:18 pm

    Hello MM Team,

we came across with this idea on FB.
Like it´s already working on the MiniMads, why not doing it for the real MadMapper as well:
For larger projects it would be awesome to have Server/Client Versions of MM. With the Client Version you remote control the servers (the ones with the Power under the hood) and they sync each other. So let´s say we have a stage with a huge number of displays or projectors (for example 24), these could be controlled with two Madmapper Servers, each with 12 outputs...
The client sits at the FOH and controls the mapping. For the client it´s only "one" MM, but the outputs are split across different servers.
Playback and media files sync across the servers itself.
To say it in fact: You´re not that far away from this with the version you already have....
And for sure you can sell this at an different price level.

The other thing is adding timelines and transitions between presets.
Timelines just need to store the values of what is already in the software: Positions, Mediaplaybacktimes, Opacity, etc. and make the transition between the Cues. Well, I think there are ways to do it external via Midi or so, but it´s more or less not the best way.

I see a great chance to add the MadMapper Server / Client to the list of MediaServers and to do some business here. MadMapper is already powerful as an GreenHippo, Watchout, etc. - but there are two big keys in the software missing to achieve this.
So why not open up new markets? :-)

Best wishes and good luck for the future!

timeline/cues is something we *really* want.
It should be, indeed, a planned feature.
However, I cannot give you any ETA / date.
    Development takes time, unfortunately ;)

That´s awesome! Looking forward to it.
Something about the "remote control" part? :)

    +1 for remote control
    +1 for timeline

Remote Control would be awesome! Lets say your MadMapper main machine is standing at the FOH and is ready to use with the projector. You just have to adjust the mapping and check your scenes. Best and most detailed view to do that, would be on Stage. So a Server/Client mode would be awesome or anything like that.

    Thanks in advance

Since it has been running on windows, I've been using Madmapper more and more in theater. I think with a server client variant I would be able to really establish Madmapper here.
Is there any news about the state of development? A timeline would also be very desirable. How far is the stage of development there?

Thanks for everything, I look forward to new information
