Total AV setup: protools midi, to modul8 with 2 cam inputs

    Hello,

First of all, this is going to be a long post. I need to know several things because of the need of switching a whole live AV setup to a new format. So thanks for reading this!

On stage, there's a protools digi 003 playing samples and sending a midi TimeCode (MTC). This MTC was received by the vj in the back, so that preproduced visuals from vj run totally sync with samples from protools: The timeline position of protools was always sync with timeline position of vj.

The vj mixes live video from 2 cams with these visuals. The resolution of the projection screens are 2400x600 px, so the vj uses for output a matrox triplehead.
The vj works in MaxMSP/Jitter workflow on a PC.

Because we experienced some defaults in this home-built system, we want to change to Modul8 on mac on the vj-side.

    So here are my questions:

    1. Will it be possible to send the MTC signal from Protools Digi 003 through built in os x midi setup over ethernet to the modul8 mac from the vj? (The midi setup does recognize the digi003, so that's a good sign).
    2. Can modul8 accept this MTC over ethernet?
    3. Is it possible to link the MTC of protools to a position on the timeline module in Modul8? So that when Im at 00:01:40:47 in Protools Timeline, I will be at the exact same time in modul8 timeline?
    4. This timeline module will only be available in modul8 v2.6 ? Or is the beta now in 2.5 working ok and stable?
    5. Is it possible to combine timeline based media in Modul8 with 2 live cams? In other words: Do i have to "place" the 2 live Cams on the modul8 timeline? or can i just mix them through?
    6. What's the best way to connect two live cams to modul8? is it through a blackmagic capture card?

You will notice from my post that I'm not the vj :). But through circumstances I am responsible for the new AV setup. Hope you guys can help me.

If you want to see video of the performance, type "Motek do you us too" in youtube.

    Thanks in advance

    Ken

With regard to 6. there's the following (by Mark, Developer of Isadora):

1 firewire port cannot have 2 DV cam inputs. (and 400/800 is sitting on the same hub on EVERY macbook pro).

So maybe its possible two have 2 DV cam inputs through a workaround?

So here's the updated question 6. for modul8:

could i have 2 cam inputs through 1 blackmagic card (PCI Express) and 1 canopus ADVC 110 (Firewire)?

Or does a multiple capture card (for 2 DVcams) for 1 PCI Express slot exist?

    Tanx
