    scaling bugs at 4/1 setup

by clash tv » Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:03 pm

    hi garagecube team,

i have a strange problem concerning simple scaling of a clip.
i use a matrox THTG with 3 outputs. so my modul8 setup is 4/1.

i have produced a clip with the dimensions 1024x256 (4/1)
    movie settings: quicktime,square pixel, fotojpeg 75%, 30fps

the problem is: if i scale the clip with the uniform scale fader
it is impossible to fill the output with this movie exacty.

either on the left and on the right i see the background
or i have a overlap on the top and bottom.

the clip seems to be more narrow than the output.

a also tested the fieldOfView knob, with no success.

so is there a magic factor i have to add ?

i have to produce videoclips for a videowall, which
have to fit exactly to the output resolution.

    another strange scaling thing is:
if i load the (4/1)clip into the layer with normalize , it dos
not fit to the output. its alwas placed in the middle, scaled to
a third of my output width.

everything works as expected in a 4/3 setup.

    Try this :

Put the fild of view knob at the minimum and do a fine adjustment of the scale using the 'alt' + arrow key shortcut.

    or (more complicate) :

Activate the normalize button, put the scale slider at the maximum with a scale factor 3x and the fild of view knob at the minimum.

    hey boris,
thanks a lot for your explanation.
putting the field of view slider does the trick !
i thougt, that i have checked that ...

now i can work pixel accurate :-)

    just for completition,
if you want to set a pixelaccurate global mask
in a 4/1 setup, a uniform scaled movie or image
with a the factor 3. is a bit to smal.
we dont have a field property here ...

but the magic factor of 3.005 do the job.

    python code:
    modul8.setValue ('direct_globalMask_scale_uniform',3.005,0)
    h.
