    Video Streaming recognition

    by pcultural » Wed Jul 07, 2010 9:20 pm

Hi, I would like to live manipulate live streaming videos on modul8, like, embedding UStream URL or making modul8 recognizing it as a live cam. How can I make it possible?

    thank you!

    did you find any solution?
I'd like to use a Ustream video embedded as a layer on Modul8
maybe some module could help, I think it would be very easy to develop, but I dont know any python

    Hi all,

I do not know which format USTREAM is streaming its data.

But if you have an RTSP stream, here is the way to get it into Modul8 :

says that your stream is rtsp://203.125.227.74/3gpp

    1) create a text file named myvideo.mov, write this inside :
    RTSPtextRTSP://203.125.227.74/3gpp

    2) if you have a QuickTime Pro license, launch QuickTime Player 7
    Open URL... (rtsp://203.125.227.74/3gpp)
    Save As... self-contained movie (myvideo.mov)

Then you will be able to open myvideo.mov to access the live stream

    Regards.

Ah, ustream is using flv format ... flv is not supported by QuickTime.

'perian' plugin for quicktime solves that problem

I'm still thinking about this. It would be really nice if I could stream video from one place to another using an existing streaming service like Ustream or Bambuser. Yes they use flv video and yes I can get the flv to work in quicktime with Perian but...

    1. How do I figure out the address of the flv-files for Ustream and Bambuser?

    2. Ok, I can get a FLV to play in Quicktime but how do I a live streaming FLV to play inside Modul8? Do I need to make a container movie like in David's RTSP example?

    3. iWebcamera, yeah that works but I need to connect a better camera. That's why it would be nice to use Bambuser.

So what I am looking at is finding a streaming service that can use a video camera (connected to the computer) as source and the the stream should be compatible with quicktime and playable in Modul8.
