about organizing projects?

If I have all my media on an external hard drive, do i need to put the project file on the external drive too in the same folder? There's almost no info on how best to set up modul8 with the media. I keep losing the media links to some projects and not others. The media is not loading into the media set window. Not sure what I've done. Also for us newbies can someone give a brief overview on workspaces and how you might best set them up... no mention in the documentation. No "undo" takes some getting used to too. Am using 2.6

I have been using Modul8 since early 2006 and I will give you my opinion on the answers to your questions.

There are many, many way to do this. I keep a fresh copy of all projects and media in the same directory. The media may some times been in several locations on the hard drive but if it is in a project it is in the same folder as the project.

Again almost every situation can be done in at least a dozen different ways and if you don't like those ways you can build your own modul. The modular design of this program is extremely flexible.

I understand and still mess up and forget but, What exactly would you undo? There is so much going on in any one project how would the program know what you mean by undo?


I know these answers are not the golden solution but I have almost 5 years experience with this software and I still learn new trick every time I launch the app.

If I use media in multiple projects - instead of copying the file I use this method. It works like an alias but regular aliases don't work in M8
