    Divx codec

    by Ari3 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 3:07 pm

I am at the point of buying Module 8. The only problem is that my Divx quicktime files are not supported. Is there a special reason why it's not? Does version 2.5 will support the codec?

Why would one use such an ineffective codec as DivX anyway? It's too processor-intensive to be used in any realtime operation.

I think no third-party codecs are supported and they won't be, modul8 uses the Quicktime engine to load its clips, but I can stand corrected, I might be confusing myself.

Although it's an ineffective codec I still like to use the codec... For me it's performing really well on my G5 Quad. It's strange that it's not supported cause it is a Quicktime codec. My own software (based on MAX/MSP) does support it very well, but it is by far not that sophisticated as Module 8. That's why I'd like to switch to Module 8.

good question:-) it's .avi (not .mov) so it's not a Quicktime codec, I was wrong about that.
