    Mix Preview Window

    by skyvat » Sun Oct 31, 2004 1:06 am

    Hey GC team:

I have been using the program since its release and still do not understand the functionality of the 'MIX" tab on the preview window. I looked in the documentation and understand what it is supposed to do. Even if the layer you are working on is obscured by a 'higher' layer, you should be able to see it in the MIX window. For some reason, that's not happening here. MIX appears to be identical to output in all cases.

Can you explain what I'm missing?

Maybe the documentation is not very clear on this point.

Actually the "MIX" mode is pretty simple:

It shows the whole mix + the selected layer even if it is hidden.

Suppose you want to edit a layer before it is mixed, you can hide it (using the checkbox button beside the transparency slider in the layer list) and you can use the mix mode to see it and work on it.

    AH HA!

I get it now. I was confused between "hide" and having the opacity slider all the way down or having it covered or 'hidden' by another layer. Makes sense - thanks.
