640X480?

Hi,
I have a big G5 with a second output which is set at 1024X768, I prepare my movie clips and still PSD images at this resolution but I just imported a batch and realised that the Modul8 stage seems to be 640X480, is this correct?

I try to get as much resolution as my G5 can permit and it seems weird to scale my 1024X768 footage to 640X480 then scale it back to 1024X768 when going full screen.

Can't I tell Modul8 what my stage dimension is?

thanks

Your stage is simply your output resolution, that's all !
Read the faq for more understanding modul8 output resolutions.

Ok, that's what I thought at first, but then I imported some 1024X768 PSD files and they were all bigger than the stage, I had to shrink them in order to have them fit the screen, almost like I was using 1024X768 files on a 640X480 stage.

My images are 72 dpi 1024X768, why are they bigger than my output area? New layer, reset everything on it.

thanks

it depends on your output window resolution ,
if you want to constraint your picture size to your output resolution you can click on the normalize button

My output resolution is 1024X768, just as my sources.
I read in the manual that usually Modul8 uses each elements real size when put on stage so it should be 1:1 and fit the screen without using the normalize button, so what's happening?

Sorry, I understand this is not really clear,

So,
modul8 have a "virtual" stage resolution.
This "virtual" stage size is indeed based on 640x480 (for the 4/3 ratio).
But this is just an arbitrary representation and not the true resolution.
You media keep the original resolution and are scaled for eatch output or preview according to the virtual stage and your output resolution.
Simply because we need to have the same representation on the preview and on the output in any resolutions.
That's the raison why you need to use the normalize option if you want your media fit to the "stage".

so that's why, when you click on the small rectangle, bottom right of the preview window, you can read "320X240".
Thank you,

"320X240" means the size of the window, click drag and change the size.
