    multi-projection s-video out

    by Siggi » Fri Dec 15, 2006 11:52 pm

first of all i have to say that the 2.5 version was a really great step. thank you garagecube for this i really appreciate it!
for a project i want to use the multi-projection with 3-7 screens and one preview out. i have to use a videomixer witch means i have to convert the dvi signal to a composite or an s-video signal. i could find out that the nvida 7300gt witch comes with an macpro are not able (even with an dvi to video) adaptor to provide a video signal. the ati card are able to provide a pal signal but it's only 1 card possible to install...is there another way ecept to use an expensive vga to video convertor?

would be great to get any information.

maybe you should try to mix everything with a data mixer which can accept both video and data , such as that by example : http://www.kramerfrance.com/indexes/ite ... ame=vp-727
So you don't have to downconvert your signal and always keep a data signal for your beamer. 8 universal inputs, 1 preview and a program.

That kramer rack is worth several macpros !!! not so easy to setup, if rented. And has only one pgm output... so no real multiprojection.

Use a vga box on each output ! 80 $/€ for a "working" one.

Of course, all that depends on what your performance is, so you might want to throw in some details, if you want people to give some useful advice !

How many screens do you have ?

Do you need a different image on each screen ? (in which case you don't need several graphics cards, but a 1x8 VGA distributor)

What sort of mixer are you planning to use ?

Do you NEED to mix analog video ?

buy a used dual or quad core g5 and some 256 nvidia cards

and leave my mac pro at home
