Trouble with MacPro Intel Xeon 2.66

So... I just bought a MacPro Intel Xeon 2.66 for VJ use (lucky me!). But Modul8 (and other video apps) have trouble seeing the live video i input via FireWire.
Does anyone else here have the same problem? I have heard that there are problems with MacPro and FireWire, so I am curious if any of the users here have seen it.

Best regards

Vuzak

You should try to use it from another application first (like iMovie) to see if it is a problem related to Modul8 or to the MacPro.

I´m pretty sure it isn´t Modul8, as Quicktime Pro has trouble recording directly, and FinalCut won´t recognize the camera. One tip I got was to turn off FireWire Networking, but I´m not sure it works.

Right now, Modul8 has camera input and is working fine, but I don´t exactly feel safe about giggging with it :-)

I´ll let you know how this develops.

Other people have had problems with the FireWire implementation in the new MacPros also.

Thanks!

If you bought a MacPro for VJ use, and if you want to have a professional video input, you will never can do something good with firewire.
Use a decklink video capture card : http://www.decklink.com/products/

I'm using a G5 with this card and it's working fine.
