Jagging problem

Hi!

I have a MacBook Pro (two years old, first release). I run the latest version of Modul8. I haven't got any problem with it until last december. During a gig the videos started to jagging. I did not change anything in the preferences all were the same as before. Since than all in my gigs the jagging problem has occured. I tried to set every video to direct stream from the disc, no buffering at all but it did not help. But it seems it's a memory usage problem. The last time I used the software I could only run one layer at the same time. With two it was jagging. But the most strangest thing that it's never happens in the beginning, just after a 20-30 minutes usage. I use a midi controller and I realized when I push button a lot (for example changing the play direction) the layer starts to jagging or freeze for a moment or for longer time. I have really no idea what's going on. Please send me suggestions to test, maybe it could help.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Kem.

it could be hardware(something overheating) or os x(some process being run in the backround and piling up stuff)
I would reinstall os first.
i used to perform with PB 867 where I had on drive only the os x and modul8 and media. when I did something else like writing a letter I booted from external firewire drive. it worked rather well.

Hi,
i have the same machine, first MacBook Pro 2,16 17"... The fact is that it is the hottest machine i have ever seen, you could almost cook an egg on it. My solution is to use SMC Fan Control, wich allows you to control the speed fans... I use the 3000 RPM speed when i mix, and about half an hour later it goes to 4000... With those settings i don't get problems, try it for yourself and let us know about it... Aniway, if you still have weird reactions, it is probably hardware.
