Hello.

I was wondering if it's possible to use one midi device controlling 2 exactly the same computers. Macpro's with modul8.

One will have 2400*600 Visuals for a triple screen setup
Other pc will have 800*600 version of the same effect. The ideia is to get the both chosen videos to start sincronized using the midi device.

What are the solutions? For example evolution uc33e has a USB port, midi in and midi out.

How can I connect it to both computers?
-Anyway to split the usb signal?
-Maybe merge the in and out midi ports to usb and connect it to the other? Can the midi device send/receive signals on both ports ate the same time?
- What about sharing the device via network? Latency?

i don't know if it's possible to split up usb but you can do this with midi.. check google/ebay for midi through boxes or midi splitter. this tiny little gadgets have one midi in and depending one how much money you want to spent more midi outs/throughs..

also you need to get a midi interface for your other computer..just one of this little boxes which provides the DIN5/midi plugs..m-audio midisport seems to be enough for this job.. then you connect your midi keyboard via usb to computer1 sending data on channel1? rewire the midi out from the master controller to midi interface connected to computer2
finally you can remap the midi channels with midi patchbay

depending on which channels are used as defaults by your midi controller..

debugging this things are a lot easier with apple's midi configuration tool, i think it should be somewhere in the utilities..

or maybe, connect one midi controller to the first mac then connect the two macs with RJ45 (ethernet) cable and maybe you can send the midi signal from one computer to the other, bu I never tried, I'm not sure it can work, but what I'm sure is that you can send midi via ethernet froma a computer to an other.

Check the audio/midi configuration in your utilities folder.

ok I solve my problem buying a midi to usb cable

network modul works better, because everything is sync. Not only your midi signal, but also the keyboard input mouse etc ect
