whats the best place to place your quick time file
should i set a seperate file within modul 8
or have them in an external hard drive
i ask this because i have a portable hard drive with 18 gig of avi's & mpeg/qt movies & 100 gig on a external drive which would be suicide to take to gigs
what the best solution ?

I recently due to space issues( powerbook used for work too !) moved my media sets over to a fastish external firewire drive.......i found that performance ( drop frames, reponsiveness etc) has fallen......i am perplexed

I expected an overall gain....

would a drive with an 8MB cache/7200rpm benefit my set up?

I would have thought it would? but no

mmm... how was plugged your external drive? firewire 400? maybe a fw800 works fine... I really don't know but I want to buy a external drive but if it's too slow I won't...
