    fastest laptop solution for mutliple screen hd projection

    by cynik » Sat Jul 12, 2008 11:23 pm

    Using the newest Macbook Pro 15" with 512 of vram and 4 Gb sysram, would a small external eSata raid array....like the LaCie little big disk quadra, be enough to do triple screen projection with multiple HD (up to 1080p) clips, some effects/renderings, also including a live stream?

    And one step further, would a SSD hard drive in the laptop also increase performance...as having the clips over a very fast (eSata) connection and only burdening the hard drive with program work would seemingly be a screaming solution.

    triple screen laptop?

    correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the macbook pro only have one video out? how do you plan to run 3 screens from that?

    I think the little disk quadra is probably the best bet for a FW800 device, for eSATA there are faster. Check out something that does a port multiplier like this:

    no idea why it's so expensive. This is the port multiplier;

    if you want to go DIY get that and a little chassis that will hold 4 or 5 disks.
