    MIDI Implimentation (using powerbook/Midisport 2x2)

    by epheph » Mon Jul 19, 2004 4:56 am

I am currently demo'ing modul8 and I'm having a hard time getting MIDI working. I am new to the Mac, but very experienced in MIDI. I have the MIDI setup working at the OS level, and using garage band I can produce and record MIDI events. When I select 'Edit Midi Map' in Modul8, select an item and send MIDI events, nothing happens (I can set up Key map, so I understand how it is supposed to work). I am using a USB MidiSport 2x2 with standard MIDI devices (Yamaha S80) on a Powerbook running 10.3. Thank you for your help.

It's necessary to connect the midi before launching modul8.
Perhaps that's the cause of your problem ... ?

Alright, I'll give that a try tonight!

Have other people had success connecting a MIDI device to an external MIDI->USB device? As opposed to connecting in a USB pseudo-MIDI device (like the Edirol PCR-50)? Thanks!

Hey that worked! When it did work:

I plugged in the USB MIDI before powering up the powerbook

    when it didn't work:

I plugged in the USB MIDI after Modul8 was running. I then quit modul8 and came back in, and it still didn't work...

I'll have some more playing around to do, but the MIDI features are slick!

We'll add a midi rescan function in the future. So at least you won't have to restart Modul8 when you plug a new midi device.
