faders-knobs vs fps

Using version 1.1 realised that:
- when fading alpha blending (slider on layer) performance fps slow down a lot, making fading in a layer not an option...
- when changing values by knob or faders (with mouse or midi) (for ex. color modulate) at the time a layer is selected slows down framerate. But just when changing a layer which is selected, changes in other layers (possible using a contextual midi setup) don´t decrease fps.

..ah! don´t know much about programming soft, but couldn´t it have something to do with the fact that theese changes go not just to the output but to the "layer" and "mix" viewer too? By the way tried while viewing just the "grid" and same problem...

I may be wrong, but I think it is coming from the refresh of the user-interface panel. Now how bad it is ? Does it really slow the animation (freeze, etc.) ?

it doesn´t freeze but makes impossible to fade smoothly, the difference is so clear because the good speed performance you get when not altering nothing. Sure you´re right bout that has something to do with the display refresh. Must say that tried with the display in the RTMac output and the output video in the GeForce (as I was told GeForce has better performance).
Didn´t tried yet with the 2.0. Will do it soon and post.
thanks,,,

Hmmm... I did not realize that you have two video cards... That's the problem. Modul8 really needs the speed of the AGP to reach good performances. At least try to put your output on the card that uses the AGP port. Unfortunately the UI will be slow because it has to updated through the PCI card. Does your Geforce have dual-output ? If yes, try to do everything on your Geforce.

Sure. But, and theese are words from a non-coder, why affects to the output and not just freezes the UI - whoose no realtime doesn´t matter much-? BTW will try with the other AGP output (didn´t use it cause the need of a converter from apple monitor to VGA. ((Will post when done)).
thanksagain,,. and, must say, really shocked by the new version capabilities (the only thing I miss, at the moment, is a fps viewer).

Is not easy because modul8 is a multithreaded application, also the fps is not exactly the same for eatch part of modul8 (effects, movie, render, etc... )

if you are using a PCI card for your user interface, you should use the preview window in grid mode.
